1st Half Analysis
It has been a goalless first half. France haven’t had any real chances. The best shot so far has come from Salcido. Mexico are doing fine but are not very good in front of goal. Let’s see what the second half brings us.
For those of you who care, Arsene Wenger is at the stadium. He is supposed to be working for some French television channel. When I heard that he was attending the game, I honestly thought he had come to see Vela play…. Then it struck me… He’s French… and later I got to know what he was actually there for….
FYI: 80 years ago France played Mexico in the first World Cup kickoff match match.
2nd Half Analysis
France put up a poor performance today. It was very disappointing to see them play. Raymond Domenech, I think it’s time you bid adieu. Now moving on to El Tri, it was young Chicharito who scored the first goal and gave Mexico the lead. His was the 2,100th World Cup goal. The second goal was a penalty kick (professional diving) taken by veteran Blanco. Those two goals sealed the deal for Mexico. All that they need to progress to the next round is a draw against Uruguay. (Unless France begin to fire in goals which honestly I don’t see happening). The Man of the Match went to Chicharito and it was a well deserved one. He played well, scored and most importantly he DID NOT crack under pressure.
FYI: This is Mexico’s first ever win over France.
