1st Half Analysis
It’s the first time that these two teams are meeting in a World Cup final. Both teams having a point to prove are giving this game their best shot. No goals yet and the commentator says it almost looks like they are training. 🙂 The ball seems to be causing some problems; it almost slipped out of Sorensen’s hands. (Remember Green?) The Flying Dutchmen have had more shots on goal but in the end it’s the score line which matters and that is still 0-0.
2nd Half Analysis
The second half started with an own goal from Poulsen, sort of a combination with Agger. The game then continued with Netherlands taking charge. 18 year old Eriksen, the youngest player in the tournament made his debut. At the 85’ Kuyt scored from a rebound putting the Dutchmen ahead 2-0. It could have been 3-0 to Netherlands in the 89’ but Poulsen made an amazing goal line clearance and that’s how the game ended. Wesley Sneijder was named Man of the Match.
