1st Half Analysis
Could it get any worse? This is NOT what I expected from Cameroon. Benoit, what have you done to your hair???? Honda is the only player worth mentioning. Apart from his goal which have given Japan the lead he has also been creating chances and his game so far has been pretty impressive. Hope the game picks up in the second half.
2nd Half Analysis
An interesting second half it has been. Almost everybody (including me) tipped Cameroon to win this one but then again anything can happen in football. Both teams weren’t that impressive except for a few players and the match was a rather dull one but towards the last 15 minutes Cameroon sort of picked up their game but by then it was too late. Japan looked a little shaky but goalkeeper Kawashima held his ground. One of the best saves in the tournament so far came in the 90’ + 3 when Webo delivered a decent back heel but Kawashima denied him of a goal. Japan thus join the Nederlands with 3 points. The Man of the Match went to Honda. Japan have never won a game outside Asia. This is their first win and I’m sure they are thrilled.
