Ist Half Analysis
I watched the first half without any expectations. As the game unfolded it looked like Greece would lead in the 3′ but Torosidis’ shot went off target. Then in the 7′ Korea’s Jungsoo converted a free kick and thus Korea led 1-0. Midway through the game it was obvious that Greece were being dragged around by the Koreans and their frustration seemed to be getting even more obvious. In the 23′ Jungwoo had a chance to make it 2-0 but failed to make good enough connection with the ball. By half-time the Koreans were in high spirits leading at 1-0. According to me the they will control the 2nd half just like they did in the first half.
2nd Half Analysis
The 2nd half started out well for Korea. In spite of the ball possession being an equal 50-50% Korea ended up with 2 goals, the second one coming in the 52′ from Park Ji Sung. By then the Greeks seemed to have given up or at least their body language showed it. They did get a few shots on goal but nothing more than that. Korea played well throughout the 90′ and created some fine opportunities. With the first 2 games ending up in draws, the Taegeuk Warriors were the first team to win a game in the tournament. Park Ji Sung was the Man of the Match.
